What to do if we get an error "Unable to open ADO.Net database connection connection string" when logging in SuperOffice?

When we try to log in we get an error:

Unable to open ADO.Net database connection. Connection string xxxxx

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that the SQL server is configured to allow remote connections.

(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Or an error:

Unable to login to database server; You may have the wrong database user (superoffice.config setting: crmxxx)

What does it mean and how to fix it?

This error comes up when the server name is unknown for the network where your local computer is. Most of the time this error is caused by incorrect information in the SuperOffice.ini or SuperOffice.config files. To fix it:

  1. Open SuperOffice.ini file on the computer that got an error.

    • If you know you installation information check that database, server and ODBC names are correct in the SuperOffice.ini  file.

    • If you don't know installation information compare the values of the file with the values in the file from the computer which does not get the error.

  2. Do the same with SuperOffice.config file.
